Body-Mind Work
The brain is an organ, so things like food, vitamins, sleep, exercise, and sunlight can have a big effect on mood. Make sure you are not taking drugs or medications that cause sadness, and make sure you are eating well. If you haven't had a good, well-balanced meal lately, nutrition and exercise might help lift your spirits a bit.

Professional Help If you feel down for more than a few weeks, are having trouble eating or sleeping, can't get started, or are thinking about suicide, then you should seek professional help or call a hotline for support. The same holds if you are using drugs or alcohol to cope. Therapy is often more affordable than you might think, and psychotherapy is particularly effective against problems with sadness. With all the treatments now available, there is no need to face persistent sadness alone.
